Who We Are

Climate Action Network Canada (CANC) is a national coalition of environmental organizations, Indigenous groups, labour unions, youth networks, faith communities, and social justice advocates working together to advance ambitious and equitable climate solutions across Canada. We exist to strengthen collaboration within Canada’s climate movement — aligning strategy, amplifying collective voices, and increasing our impact on public policy. By bringing diverse organizations together under a shared vision, we help ensure that climate action in Canada is bold, science-based, and grounded in justice.

What is Climate Action Network Canada?
Climate Action Network Canada (CAN Canada) is a national coalition of environmental, social justice, labour, youth, faith-based, and Indigenous organizations working together to advance ambitious and equitable climate action across Canada.
Is Climate Action Network Canada a government organization?
No. CANC is an independent civil society coalition. We work to influence public policy but are not affiliated with or controlled by any government body.
What does CANC do?
We coordinate national climate advocacy, develop policy recommendations, engage with decision-makers, support public campaigns, and amplify the voices of communities most impacted by climate change.
Who are your members?
Our members include environmental NGOs, Indigenous organizations, labour unions, youth groups, health advocates, faith communities, and other civil society organizations committed to climate justice.
What is a “just transition”?
A just transition ensures workers and communities dependent on fossil fuels are supported through training, income protections, and investment in sustainable industries during the shift to a clean economy.
How does CANC work with Indigenous communities?
We support Indigenous leadership, uphold the principle of free, prior, and informed consent, and advocate for climate policies that respect Indigenous rights and sovereignty.
